The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the tourism statistics for the period April-June this year.
Consequently, tourism revenue was $ 3 billion 3 million 628 thousand in the second quarter.
73.1 per cent of tourism revenue (excluding mobile phone roaming and marine services expenses) was obtained from foreign visitors and 26.9 per cent from citizen visitors residing abroad.
2 thousand 436 million 913 thousand dollars of the expenses made in said period corresponded to personal expenses and 566 million 716 thousand dollars to combined travel expenses.
Average nightly spending this quarter was $ 57. Average overnight spending by foreigners staying overnight was $ 64, while average nightly spending by citizens residing abroad was $ 44.
THE NUMBER OF VISITORS WAS 4 MILLION 66 THOUSAND 210
The number of visitors who left Turkey was 4 million 66 thousand 210 people. 77.3 percent of the visitors were foreigners with 3 million 144 thousand 815 people, and 22.7 percent of them were citizens residing abroad with 921 thousand 395 people.
During this period, foreign visitors visited Turkey with 70.3 percent mainly for “travel, entertainment, sports and cultural activities”. “Visiting family and friends” ranked second with 14.8 percent, and “business purposes (conferences, meetings, homework, etc.)” ranked third with 6.7 percent.
Citizens residing abroad, on the other hand, came to Turkey mainly to “visit family and friends” with 63.7 percent.
TOURIST EXPENDITURE WAS 334 MILLION 936 THOUSAND DOLLARS
Tourist spending, which consists of the spending of citizens residing in the country and visiting other countries, was 334 million 936 thousand dollars. $ 333,704,000 of these were personal and $ 1,232,000 were combined travel expenses.
The number of citizens who visited abroad in this quarter was 395,189. Their average spending per person was recorded at $ 848.
